Another round of 21st Birthday Bash took me to a well-known seafood delicacy at Changi Village. We planned a surprise birthday for our beloved uncle tong.=) Didnt really expect Jiunn Tong to be so touched with the arrangements that we thought he almost cried. He was especially touched when he received his dream Braun Baffel wallet for the birthday gift.
Jiunn Tong: " I was just making some passing remarks the other day but didnt expect you guys to buy it. It's really expensive."
I agree with what Leen said; that the ultimate aim of all gifts is to make the receiver happy. To add on, the giver must also be happy to present the gift, cos' that's where sincerity comes about. When one is sincere in giving, he's happy in giving. The receiver who's touched by the giver's sincerity will also be happy too. Gifts that are made out of obligations, norms and traditions are meaningless.
So seeing Uncle Tong so happy with the birthday surprise and gift, we were on cloud nine at the bottom of our hearts too. =)
