Beijing Tour - Day 1, 11th June

At Changi Airport T2 on Friday night, 10th June

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:58 AM

York Hotel in Beijing where we gonna lodge at most of our tour days.

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:57 AM

The Very firSt places of interest that we toured in Beijing...

We took a ride at the trishaw around the old Beijing a.k.a the Hutongs. The uncle who cycled us around is really.. B-e-S-T!! Xin ku ta le..=D

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:56 AM

Scenary of the Hutongs...; my sis, me and my bro. Long time never take siblings' shot together le..=)

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:55 AM

Temple of Heaven - a place which was used to worship the heaven as well as to pray for good harvest during the dynasties of Ming and Qing. Notice my eyes were squinting madly? And umbrellas sprang up everywhere? The weather was obviously Blazing HOT!

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:54 AM

I'm on the heavenly centre stone! Haha..sounds like the direct route to heaven from the heart of the stone. It was said that when one speaks standing on the stone, his/her voice become particularly resonance and sonorous. Maybe next time I should try standing on the stone and play my clar! Haa..

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:53 AM

the Exciting AcrobatiC show. *Thumbs up* for China's acrobats!

Our first tour guide, Simon with my sis. Amazingly, he recognised my sis as one of the hotel staff who served him before when he visited Singapore. How small the world is! The background situated the Great Hall of the People (if I din rem wrongly =/ ).

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:50 AM

FORBIDDEN CITY; Zhi Jin Cheng

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:49 AM

Forbidden City- once the home of emperors. It's magnificent..and wow! We're are standing right at the pathway meant for the Imperial family only in the past! How honourable =D

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:47 AM

'Hoi hoi hoi' *Trying to show some strokes here* Haa..Watched Wushu Musical tt was strongly recommended by my tour guide, Simon. *Arouse of applause* to the beautiful, seemingly fairy-tailed musical ! It was staged with fantastic real-life alike props and most importantly, the ReAl ChinEse WuShu.

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:46 AM

-the Paranomic view of Forbidden City- it's like 'WoW!!'

Yearn for the days of innocence

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:35 AM

Congratulations to Us for coming down the Great Wall successfully! =D

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:35 AM

Yeah..this is it. But I've actually climbed higher than just 888m cos' that's the embossed certification I've gotten at the second peak. =D

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:35 AM

AloHa! the scenary of Fifth peak. Look, behind us there's a pretty way to go. Due to time constraint...

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:33 AM

-Ming Tombs- From what I know, 13 out of 16 Emperors of the Ming Dynasty were buried here.

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:32 AM

Our humorous Beijing tour guide; the second tour guide after Simon - Raymond. =) Taking a closer look, doesnt he look familiar? He's our so-called 'Jacky Wu Twin'. Haha.

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:30 AM

Beijing Tour - Day 4, 14th June

This is one of my most memorable birthday celebration. It's a surprise given to the June babies in the tour group by Edmund(tour leader). Suddenly felt soo blessed at that very moment. =D

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:29 AM

-The creamy cutie birthday cake- Look! Those four adorable creamy bears represent the four of us a.k.a the shou xing gong and shou xing pos! ^-^

Beijing tour - Day 5, 15th June

*** Chengde ***

"Somewhere..over the Rainbow..." We're soo priviledged to see double Rainbows on our 5hrs journey to Chengde! The second rainbow was lighter tt's why was not captured in the shot. I agreed what our 2nd tour guide, Raymond said..that there must be 'gui ren' in our tour group else we wldnt hav the fortune to catch even glimpses of that in our lifetime. ^-^

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:24 AM

-Imperial Summer Resort- Built during the Qing dynasty, it was a place of relaxation which Qing Emperors frequently visited during summer season. However, its main purpose is still for the them to escape from summer heat.

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:23 AM

Beautiful and melodious Di Zi music enchanted the resort..before I praised the management of the resort for playing the soothing tune over a loudspeaker, I realised tt the music was played 'live' by an old man who did it as part of his leisure. Am deeply impressed by his fantastic Di Zi skills.

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:22 AM

Puning Temple- the most popular temple among the Eight Outer Temples in Chengde. Also known as the Big Buddha Temple, it houses one of the largest wooden-crafted Qian yan qian shou guan ying in China, standing at 22 metres tall !

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:21 AM

My tour leader, Edmund's wonderful idea; Unfortunately, the white sparrows refused to fly! Think they're clever enough to see thru my tricks. Haha..

-Beijing Underground City- Being used as a major bomb shelter in the past, it's truly a commendable construction which had once saved lotsa innocent civilians in the war times. The city is self-sufficient with all the necessary electricity, ventilation and guess what? One cld even find a shop operating in this underground world!

In 4hrs and 30mins' time...

"Beijing, Here I Come!!!"

Wahaha. =D

Have more or less finished packing my luggage le..Am now slacking around, waiting for Zero to Hero on Channel 8, 9pm to start. Phew! Luckily I cld still catch the beautiful ending (I assumed) of the show before I go abroad..

Jus checked it one the teletext and realised that Beijing is showering right now. Temperature- Min:18 Degree Celsius; Max: 27 Degree Celsius. Oh well. By the time I reach there tomorrow morning, I guess the weather will be scorching hot cos' I heard that Beijing is even warmer than Singapore.

Alright..I gotta prepare myself now..Will be leaving home once the show ends at 10pm. Keep you update when I return!=)

Ciao~~~~

@12:42 PM

One week past since I stopped work..Kinda miss my colleague there; Cybelle, Jessica, Mayer, Grace....esp when I received the following sms from Belle this afternoon; it reads:

"Hui Li, work without you around seems a little quiet. Less lively too..."

Oh well.

Anyway, though I'm unemployed, still I'm busy with lotsa stuffs;to be exact Band.
Attended haising band prac yesterday and last Friday. Love playing with a band tt grooms me to what I'm now; a feeling of nostalgia overwhelmed me. But no longer am I wearing a Haising school uniform whilst playing under the baton of Mr Chua. I've to admit that I'm..OLD~! Yesh..indeed I am. Even Mr Chua calls me 'Lao Da Jie' le. Haa. Anyhow, it's been an enjoyment to play with my juniors ranging from sec2 onwards. Reminiscing the past when I was like one of them too. =D
You must be wondering why I frequent the band. Of course, it's for the sole purpose of our concert that gonna be held at Singapore Conference Hall on the 24th June 2005 (Friday). Ticket is priced at $10. Interested parties please feel free to contact me yea? (Haa. Doing a little advertisement here. ^-^)

***

Gotta miss a good lot of activites with my departure to Beijing, China this Saturday morning. It's a superb early flight at 1.30 AM. *DotSz* What a timing;

If not for the trip, I would have been able to play for Mus'art Clar Ensemble on
17th June at Orchid Country Club..

If not for the trip, I would have been able to join a newly set-up band by my group of friends and play for their very first showcase concert on the 18th June at VCH.

If not for the trip, I would not have missed a plethora of Haising band prac next week.

Sounded as if I'm blaming my Beijing trip? Well..there are things that I need to sacrify in life, I understand.. Nothing is perfect though.
No matter what, I'm looking forward to this family trip of mine. Heard that Beijing is a great place to travel to..but I gotta heed intl(redundant) WRM's advice that I should refrain from buying any goodies from China; They simply taste sugar! Haa. I tried before actually, and tt's terribly true. =/

Counting down to the very day...

Yearn for the days of innocence

@3:45 PM

What a tedious day! Both my legs are aching right now from a day's activity. Well..not exactly the entire day but rather from 4pm onwards. hah. So long that it's fun and enjoyable, who bothers? I'm sure Shufen, Jenny, Phui Ling and I truly had a wonderful outing this afternoon..you know the Girl Power 4. *Laugh out Loud*

Supposedly to meet 1530 at East Coast Park Mac and it turned out, tt I was the only one who reached there punctually. *dots* To think that I wld be late... and what happened? I've two interesting frens, Jenny and Phui Ling 'Skywalked' all the way from almost the other end of ECP to our meeting point cos' they superbly overshot their bus stop. Goodness gracious. Imagine they walked for a full one and a half hours?! Unimaginable. By the time both reached mac, they were too tired to say anything whatsoever. And precisely b'cos of that, we gave up Shufen's roller-blading enthusiasm and settled upon cycling. So Pai Seh arh, Shufen! =/ Well, cycling is equally fun too! My forte wor~~ Hee =D But it's not Phui Ling's unfortunately. So the three of us actually offered to give her a crash course on cycling. Hard on her le..with fierce tutor like Shufen! Haha. In spite of tt, we were determined to see that she cld at least peddle a few distance to make our effort paid off. Although she din fulfill our ultimate wish, at least she almost achieved the very 'start peddling' part which I tot was good enough. As experienced cyclists, we understand how difficult it was to get that very first step. Hence..good job, Phui Ling! Try harder the next time yeah?=) Jenny, Shufen and I became more pragmatic eventually and accepted the fact tt it's almost impossible for Phui Ling to get to the level like ours. Thus without second thought, Phui Ling and I changed our bikes to the duel-rider sort. Pretty nice to peddle..esp. when you've a partner behind you to chit-chat with while cycling. =)It ironically pumps in more energy for you to hang on to the long cycling journey! ^-^ Good. I gonna opt for that again the next time!

Guess it've been long since the four of us cycle cos' after tt 2 hrs of exercising, our legs nearly turned into jelly! Haa. All that we wanted was to S-I-T; SIT! Yeah..jus feel like sitting at the bench forever and enjoying the breeze. Woo~ How blissful~ Wahaa. Oh well..tt was how worn-out we were. But still, we conjured our strength and moved on to our next destination- Cine to watch the korean movie, 'My boyfriend is Type B'. Heard tt it's a worthwhile show to catch. However, too used to luxury, we pampered ourselves and took 2.40 transport all the way to Ochard. Gee~!=D

Probably the Comfort taxi driver didnt like us with our perspiring stench and sticky bodies..He purposely 'beat around the merry-bush' costing us our time and money. It's soo tenene k.. As a matter-of-fact, if he cld drive straight down along Bras Basah where the new SMU campus is all the way to Orchard, we wldnt hav to cough up 10.10 bucks for our cab fare.(each person abt close to 3 bucks) Blame on our luck today to meet a 'Blank-blank' Taxi uncle like him ba. *Dotsssz*

So we took a cab all the way to Cine only to realise tt the 2015 time slot for the movie was almost sold out, leaving single seats dispersed everywhere in the movie theatre. *disappointed* We gave up on the show despite the availabililty of the 2230 slot..cos' of my curfew! *sigh* So sorry gals..=/

At last, we found ourselves comfy seats at Burger King where we started planning activities for the coming week, as well as the thereafter ones'. Too many wishes to be fulfilled- Sentosa, Zoo, Ice-skating, Kboxing, watching sunrise, gazing at twinkling stars, Picnic..etc. Mostly Shufen's ideas though. Haa. Well..it's rare tt primary school mates like us cld still maintain good relationship like this. No wonder Jinghui was rather shocked to see the four of together at ECP. Havent seen him for like donkey years..This long long period of time really does him lotsa change, as in his physique which made him almost unrecognisable. Well of course, he looks better now..basically slim down lots plus wearing contact lens. Ah Hah! Contact lens does wonders to looks yeah? Hee. But I personally prefer specs since I dont hav a TCMI a.k.a totally-cannot-make-it eyesight.

Anyhow, it's been a great day today. Took neoprints at Heeren.

Look! =D

@1:20 PM

My official slack day starts...TODAY! Wahaha. Well of course, I've no intention in training myself to become a couch potato. Already hav some plans in mind; they're activities tt I gotta engage in to make sure tt my 2 mths span of break is a fruitful one. However, one big thing I'm looking forward to in this long break is the holiday trip with my family to Beijing. Yay~~!! It's been long since the last time I've travelled with a complete family. Am starting to count down the very day of my trip.. =D

So to speak my last day of work was yesterday, 31st May 2005. Well..kinda sad actually..hate to leave a place where I've spent my four mths at; HSBC Tanglin is jus like my second home with 5 1/2 days' work week- from Mon to Sat; 9-6pm daily. Especially when the workplace is filled with beautiful memories of myself and the colleagues who are fun and interesting to be with. More often than not, with humorous comrades like my officers a.k.a Mayer and Jessica, I cldnt help but to laugh my heads off at their jokes. Their very presence cld blow the stress bugs away and inject laughters into the office. Love them both! (: Now that I left the bank, I wld truly miss their entertainment. *Sigh*

Here, I've to say..that my collegues and my manager are really sweet pple! When I was back from late lunch yesterday to the office, I was totally surprised by the two big rectangular Esprit branded boxes left on my already messy desk. Jasmine played me out and said, "Oh..those two are to be sent to SOC." Lagged, it took me quite some time to realise that the two pretty silvery boxes are meant for my farewell gift! At that point of time, I was like 'WOw, Esprit!'; An expensive brand tt I wouldnt hav used on myself. Yet, my generous colleagues actually bought the branded goods for me. One of which was shared among the Support team and my good fren; another was a sole gift from my manager, Patrina. She bought me a sky blue, short-sleeved jacket for which she thought I cld wear it on my trip to China. =D Inclusive of a 'Thank you' card with some sweet thank you messages written on it tt warms my heart. (= As for the prezzie shared among my colleagues, it was a sling Esprit bag, a medium-sized one but is spacious enough to bag my lecture notes..stationery and my other necessities for my classes. And tt's precisely the purpose of the bag(!); for my Uni usage. How thoughtful they're!=) Plus a cutiee embroidered card tt's full of loved msges sprinkled all over within tt silvery-squared space, I was so touched tt I almost reduced to tears! Oh boy, how blessed I felt at that very moment when I was surrounded to open up their gifts!=D Thank you pple a zillion!
On top of that, my good fren Cybelle actually treated me Crystal Jade Kitchen on my second last day. Thanks Cybelle, my bestest lunchmate! If it's not been for her, I wld hav lunch alone everyday..Though we know each other for a mere 2 mths, we cliqued really well and cld chit-chat abt anything under the sun! She's been a good companion, a good chit-chat partner and a good advisor. Without her wise advice, I wld still be caught in a dilemma as to which course I shld choose in Uni..Miss her! But whenever I'm free, I wld always drop by the bank to ask her out for lunch.^-^

Time flies and it's already the first of June. Eventhough I'm not working, I'll be a filial daughter and make myself useful at home; Housework Time! *laughs*
