So yup, school started for a few weeks by now.. and I could finally squeeze some whee bits of time to settle myself down and blog!

I realised I have been so busy these days till I almost became very lost in the world of busy bees. haha. Hmm...now it's a great time for me to review them one by one;

For school, I settled with 5 modules; no overloading for this sem though I wished to. It all started from my failure in battling for the 'Introduction to black and white photography' module. I'm compelled to look for an alternative which would not disrupt my 4-day-week time table. And yes! I found it; Financial Economies. Oh well. An imperfect substitute to photography module, considering that it is an Econs prescribed core (meaning heavier load) and is examined. Of course, I won't miss this opportunity to mention that I got back my second least desired lecturer who taught me Money and Banking last sem. Argh. Ranking no.1 for the list of least desired lecturers is the one who took me for International Trade. But ironically for this module, I achieved a rather good result. Haha. And now, he's my lecturer for International Monetary Econs. *faint*

So during the Add/Drop module period, I was kinda standing by my laptop, hoping someone would 'vacate' the photography module so that I could enrol in it. Well, I expected the outcome. Who would want to drop when a module is so interesting and non-examined? I also had consideration of taking up NIE band module. Was rather enthu about it till the day before the audition. I realised that I may not be able to cope with NUSWS on thurs and NIE on Fri. On top of that, NIE band might stretch to late hours and make it inconvenient for me to travel home. Also, I heard quite a no of negativities about the band culture and stuffs which play a part in deterring me from entering the band. So yup, that's how I settled with 5 modules all in all. But I've to tell you that I really dislike Crystals and Symmetry!!!

Next, I may be going for a summer program with Wuhan University at Hubei, China in June/July! =D It was really not easy to get my mom's approval on this..but well, she's to give her consent cos' dad gave his! Dad is rather supportive, and I really thank him for that! I'm very excited about this exchange cos' if I successfully apply for it, I'll be spending at least 2 weeks in Wuhan, taking up modules which will eventually be S/Ued (meaning not taken into accounts my CAPS), interacting with Hubei and also, International students coming from all over the world, learning about the chinese cultures, travelling around Hubei etc..etc. It's really 'one stone kill two birds' la! On one hand, I can take up modules that earn me 8AUs; On the other, I can play hard since this modules have little disruption on my CAPS. I pray hard hard to get a place in Wuhan for student exchange! Btw, Rainbow plans to go too. Pray Hard that both of us will get it!=))))

Lastly, dear and I celebrated our first anniversary on tuesday! Time flies and our relationship has already turned one yr old. It was also a double happiness on 23rd Jan cos we celebrated dear's birthday too. An unforgettable celebration, and I really thank dear for everything; for always being there for me when I need him, for being my great listener, for helping me loads in my music, for loving me soo much, for all the care and concern, all in all, for being my most wonderful companion ever. May we've more anniversaries to come! =D

My last day of work today! But that is as good as school is starting soon. Argh. Well, I've been fully occupied for a month with work. Although I wasnt introduced to alot of new stuffs still, I enjoyed working with my goody bunch of colleagues. Before I left the bank to resume my study, I gave them a box of freshly baked pineapple tarts to shower them with sweet memories of me. haha. Yup, I baked the tarts personally; Spent the entire afternoon of mon's public holiday to master the baking skills from mom. And my efforts paid off! Cos' I received positive feedbacks from my colleagues. Really have to thank mom for passing the 'secret recipe' to me!

A little unpleasantries happened on my last day of work though. I dated a female colleague from another department for lunch. To my dismay, she 'flew me aeroplane'! I am disappointed with her due to her irresponsibility; She didnt bother to give me a ring before she decided to lunch with her friends. I only found out after I gave her a call. Oh well. I wasnt making a big fuss out of such trivial matter; but it's exactly such trivial and unimportant things that make up a good friendship. I always have positive impression of this colleague from my start day of work, but this little thing actually spoilt my perceived image of her.

On a lighter note, I attended NUSWS band prac yesterday. Leonard Tan is really an inspiring conductor! Really learnt loadsss from him. He knows what he wants for the particular music piece, and whatever he wants is also clearly conveyed to us during the rehearsals. That's why I thought he is rather efficient in going through the pieces! Talking about the pieces...the music pieces are very nice! Couldnt remember their names now..but will sure update here when the concert is round the corner. So now you know, I've decided to perform for their March concert =)

Oops. I'm MIA-ing again.

Happy 2007 to all my blog's loyal patrons!!!

How time flies! My holiday is coming to an end SOON. Argh. Once again, I'll see myself myself buried in the pile of books and notes, busied with research and meeting project deadlines, reivisng for exams etc. The vicious cycle will thus perform its magic again. My work with HSBC will end on the 5th Jan 2007 and yr 2 sem 2 will start on the 8th Jan. So to work the math out, I actually have only 2 full days to prepare myself mentally for school. Of course, I would wish for more! haha. Havent exactly enjoyed days of slacking. Ironically, I'm glad I didnt rot for too long before I got the job. I would rather keep myself occupied than to stare at tv the entire day.

After being kept waiting in suspense for eons, I've finally received my sem1's results. It was a pleasant surprise cos' I've expected for the worse. Though I didnt perform as well as the previous sem's, I'm still rather satisfied with my results given the additional workload and stress I faced during this sem. Hooray to my rainbow results! Should I be greedier to aim for more A pluses? Well, it's good to have a dream. Alrighty, I'll work harder the coming sem! GO GO JIAYOU, HUILI! =)

A few updates!

xx Nan Chiau Wind Orchestra xx

I've attended Nan Chiau Wind Orchestra's concert. This is an important performance for dear because it was his conducting debut. He led the band for 2 pieces with his expressive comducting skills. I thought the band sounded rather good under his baton. Am just so proud of him! Well done, my dear =D

xx 2006 Christmas xx

Christmas celebrations with hsbc, friends and dear were great!

Received loads of prezzies from my hsbc collegues and we had a wonderful buffet dinner at the branch after work. The exchange of gifts was very fun. It was done in a less traditional way; the gifts were exchanged based on a Christmas story. All of us were asked to stand in a circle holding on to a present. Our manager stood in the middle of the circle and narrate the christmas story. Whenever we heard a Right or Left in the story, we passed the presents accordingly. All of us paid really close attention to the narrator to hear out for those two magic words. The excitement came in at those tricky parts, where the story goes 'Right Left' one after another, and all of us would be anxiously trying to switch our minds fast to coordinate with our hands. Haha. When the story ends, the present that we are holding on to will then be ours. How fun, wasnt it?

I played the game again with my sistaz. My sistaz were all soo enthusiatic and excited even before the story starts. Though I played the game before with my hsbc colleagues, I was equally excited when my sistaz and I played the game at marina sq's pizza hut. We passed the gifts accordingly, yet at the same time thinking whose prezzie would we receive. A truly enjoyable game; and a creative one too! Will try it again next year =D

Celebrated X'mas day with dear! We picniced at the 'rooftop' of vivocity with dear's garlic bread and my self-made pizza bread. Yes! The pizza bread was a success. Thank you, Ganbee! As the weather wasnt very encouraging, we shopped around for my shoes first.Oh well. I think I have bad luck with shoes. I bought quite some pairs of shoes last year but they were all not durable. Hopefully the pair that I got from URS will last me long! Back to the xmas celebration. We then headed to mount faber when the skies cleared. The place was a serenity; a great spot to unwind and enjoy mother nature. Went to the jewel place for a while before we decided to walk down the mountain. It was a risky adventure cos' half the time we were brisk walking along the aisle of the roads! Of course, we took great care of our safety. The day was nicely wrapped up with Death Note 2 at Vivo's golden village. I thought the movie is thumbs-up!=)

xx See parents day xx

Haha. The subtitle sounded as if my teacher is going to see my parents for the bad exam results. Well, I've gladly passed that stage as a student! I am responsible for my own grades now.

Anyway, the 'see parents day' here is meant for my dear. He came to my house for the very first time last xmas eve eve. Sis and bro were not at home then, so my parents, dear and I could sit spaciously round the dining table to enjoy dinner. Mom cooked a feast of her best dish;braised duck, steamed silver promfret, some vege and cabbage soup for dear to get a taste of them. =) After dinner, I took out almost all my photo albums for dear to see while we ate the fruits that mom cut for us. Dear also played my piano and unleashed his talented improvisation skills and arrangement. We truly had a great time at my house! Though dear was nervous initially, he gradually eased himself up as my parents and I helped to break the ice. He even asked mom for some soup recipes! Dear, now you gotta cook for me in the future. bleah. haa.

xx New Year Countdown xx

This my second New Year countdown! But my first with my beloved. =) We met at a crowded city hall..had our last 2006 dinner at coffee club. Aww..I missed its chocolate mudpie! Shopped awhile at marina square before we decided to park at esplanade drive. Thought we were kiasu enough to avoid the crowd. But! To our great horror, a flood of people had already found themselves ideal spots on the esplanade bridge and the front borders of merlion park. We were a little crestfallen initially, nevertheless we didnt give up searching for other spots to catch great views of fireworks later in the night. Eventually, we found ourselves comfortably seated at a rather comfy spot near the merlion and indulged in our newly bought sudoku book. The time read 2220 then. Unfortunately, it drizzled at about 1100 and the crowds around us began to dispersed. But lucky for us, dear brought his umbrella! We continue to camp at our comfy spot and play rounds of sudoku under an umbrella. hee. We were glad that the drizzle stopped at abt 1130 while we were at our last round of sudoku before the countdown. When the clock finally struck, the night was suddenly brighten up with beautiful paints of fireworks that danced along with the rhythm of music. Our spot was great. We didnt wait in vain! The fireworks was huge from where we stood and the display...needless to say was spectacular! No amount of words could describe the beauty of it! And the entire display was nicely taken down by dear's camera video. On our journey back to my home, we reviewed the memorable firework displays on the train. Dear sent me to my doorstep and was treated with mom's pineapple tarts. hee.=D

An unforgettable countdown indeed ^-^
