Simply Love Prestige Clar!
How I miss prestige clarinets! It's been a long time since I used it in MJ band. Hansel, thanks lots for lending your clar to me! It certainly makes me sounds ten times better than my usual playing!=D
Finally get to play 'Merry Widow'. Quite a nice piece actually. Still, I like 'Der Vogelhandler' by Carl Zeller. RI played it for this year's SYF. Frankly speaking, I instantly fell in love with the piece the first time I heard it at AH exchange. According to Mr Oura, Mr Eiji Suzuki arranged this music for the sake of 'M' onwards - a touching and expressive Andante part of the music. And indeed, it touches me. Hear it if you haven't! Hopefully we'll be playing this for our Jan's concert next year.
Also, we played a cute piece tt's related to animals. Don't really recall its title. The different movements represent different kinds of animals. For the first one, we've the Lion, followed by Chicken, then the Kangaroos, Aquarium and last but not least, the grand finale which combines everything together. An abstract band piece I would say. Interesting nevertheless. And I played solo for the first time! *grin* I dun remember the last time I played a solo.=/ Anyway, am glad to have put up a satisfactory performance considering the fact that I was sight-reading it. *hee*
Btw, my SL puts me in first clar! Havent been playing first clar for quite a sometime le. Though it's been rather challenging, it makes a perfect practice for my sightreading. Cos' ever since I joined the band, I've sight-read lots of first clar music tt are of wide varieties, ranging from simple to really difficult ones. Oh ya! Din expect to play Danse Diabolique in NTU band too. And most probably we gotta include this piece for our concert. Concidentally, Mus'art is performing this piece for Beautiful Sunday. But I played different parts in different band though. Still, I prefer the first clar part. =D
OOps. Gotta turn in le. Tutorial at 9.30am tmr!
