Meridian JC official opening ceremony, themed ONE was held at MJC fully air-conditioned hall yesterday, 1830. Guest of honour for the evening- Mr Teo Chee Hean, Minister for Defence; Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.
*Oops* Do I sound too formal here? *haha* Better switch back to my usual writing style which I'm more comfortable with. =)
How grand and exciting the ceremony was! Pity those who've missed the great show put up by our very own Meridian students with their hearts and souls into the Concert segment last Friday evening. A certainly wonderful programme installed for we audience yah? :) No regrets sacrificing my half day work' salary and 1 buck plus worth of journey from home to sch jus to make my presence there at the well-furnished hall with good ambience;listening to speeches, and enjoying the concert. One word to describe the entire programme: Impressive. =D
Shan't elaborate the details of the happening cos' to be frank, one has to see for him/herself to be convinced of what I've said above. ^-^
On top of that, this is the best time for gathering with classmates whom I havent met for like close to 2 mths. Hmmz..my 310 gangs; leen, Juan, Rainbow, Meiyan, Bee and (alleged 310 mate) Weiee. *laughs* However, not the complete class cos' our Princess Xiang, nurul and Huiting were MIA, as well as our Uncle Tong and Mr Peh who's not booked out from their camps then. *sigh* And yah..how nice if Bryane, (self-proclaimed) int'l (redundant) WRM (Zming, I'm prepared to be sued by you for this. Lol), VasHnoo a.k.a Vishnu(*Hee*) and Jun Hao cld join us. BuT..eh..we can forget abt that so-called 'nina pachio theorem' la hor..*lol* ( So bad of me, right..? *oops Oops*) How I miss 03S310!! *sob sobz*
Anyway, am glad that today is (finally) my last day at the information counter. Yeay!! ^0^ No more of stress from long queue of customers, no more of running abouts asking help from various sources, no longer do I have to put up with unreasonable customers and no longer do I have to listen to the silly complaints made by *tenene* customers. All in all, no more of reception work! YeSh!YeSh!! ^0^ I've had enough of that lo. Not that I wanna discriminate the job nature, but I was not properly trained like the new FIO to do the relevant transactions; and tt alone has caused me lotsa troubles daily. As the name of the counter suggests, I'm supposed to know almost everything; be it important or insignificant, so as to facilitate my service to customers who come to me with all sorts of probs. However, tt isnt the case for me at all. I understand why some customers are so irritated by the fact that whenever they posted me a query, I've to reply, " Just give me a min, sir/mdm. I'll check it out for you." If I were them, it's no doubt that I'll be very disturbed by such interruptions. But do I have a choice? *sigh* This prob had been pressurizing me lots for the past one and a quarter mth working at the reception. Luckily as times passed by; as I observed and learnt from the experienced ones, I cld more or less deal with customers' enquires. *phew* Some sense of satisfaction and achievement here lah. *hee* =)
In addition, tot with the help of the new FIO, the job burden at the reception wld be greatly lighten. Unfortunately, I've greatly mistaken tt pt. *Haix Haiz* Do you know that how envious I was of the newbie who cld get proper training by my colleague, Vidya which I cldnt do so since I'm only a temp staff there? However, am quite disappointed that the new FIO who previously already hav like 3 1/2 yrs' of experience with another bank takes no initiative to carry out her tasks diligently. And I'm rather worried how wld the counter become when eventually it is left with only the newbie and my colleague, Uncle Steve. Poor Mr Tan. He might have to run ard even more than ever. *sigh* I truly and sincerely hope that the new FIO wld treasure all the trainings and privileges given to her from the experienced seniors there and be an asset to the already shorthanded reception.
-_-
Oh yah..I suddenly rem one very angry matter to share with you guys. Listen to this;
*Phone rings*
*I pick it up*
"Good morning! HSBC Tanglin."
How do you think of that greeting? I seriously find nothing is wrong with it.
But on Fri morning, I was such unlucky to pick up a call from the secretary of Head Office who lectured me and said that this is not an etiquette way of greeting the customers and claimed that I was not properly trained by my colleague, Vidya (which is true la.). And guess what? She suggested her so-called etiquette way of greeting as, "Good morning, this is Huili speaking from HSBC Tanglin branch. How can I help you?" OoOkay..tt's soOO long for goodness' sake. When customers call and enquire or worst, complain, I believe tt they are surely not interested in who you're since they dun even know you in the first place plus they also tend to be impatient to listen to your long self introduction(especially when the customer is already fuming hot big big paragraphs of complaint). Unless they ask for my name then I'll reveal..otherwise, I dun see a necessity to reveal my identity lo. Well..probably I cld have added the line, " How can I help you, sir/mdm?" But isn't the above the bestest way of greeting; short and sweet? Tt's normally how customer service officers and call centre staff do it ma. You may beg to differ and argue that tt is precisely how HSBC cld stand out from the rests. BuT WeLL..Ookay..if tt's how you see it from another angle.
No matter what, the whoever secretary by the name of Jac shld hav taught me nicely over the phone given the fact tt I'm a temp staff and she knew abt it. The most ironic thing happened here was- when Vidya (who was actually the target of the call and I've no idea why the naggy secretary naggged nad nagged at me non-stop the min ans the call) took over the phone, I expected the blank-blank secretary to complain to my colleague abt my lousy etiquette. But surprisingly, she voiced NO single complaint of me at all. NOTHING at all. *Dots* Apparently, the evil sec. was out there too free to challenge herself by bullying a temp staff like me. Goodness gracious. Why am I the 'lucky' one? *triple dots*
Rushed to AH for a band exchange this afternoon..Alright, I've to say tt today is really not my day. It seems like all my direction sense has disappeared into nowhere this Sat afternoon.-_-
While I was on the Kawasaki train, along my way to Tanah Merah MRT station from Orchard, I looked out for Bedok View Sec Sch Building, cos' from what I've learnt from Kelvin, he told me tt to get to AH, I jus hav to cross the road from the side where the sch situates at and walk all the way in from there. OoOkaY. The thing was I actually saw the sch from the train. So I tot it was rather near and decided to walk to the sch. As I brisked walk to a junction which says 'Bedok Rd and Tampines New Town ahead', I practically abandoned the latter and chose to believe that I'm on the right path. The reason tt explains the isolation was b'cos I rem the stop before Tanah Merah is Bedok on the MRT East-West line. Tt set me to cross the road at the junction. But when I was abt to place my foot on the busy road, I heard a bus engine sound. As I looked behind, I saw Bus 9 driving past swiftly the zebra crossing behind me tt leads to another ulu path. Den I recalled Kelvin telling me tt Bedok View is only one stop away from Tanah Merah shld I take Service 9. Hence, I quickly followed the route of bus 9 to the bus-stop (which I believed to be the destination) only to realise tt what surrounds me are all private landed properties. *dots* I started to panic den le..which I tot was the reason why it resulted in me not thinking on the right track before I cont. to cross the first road; the one I assumed to be the correct one. Walked a few distance after the traffic lights, saw a bus 24 drove past me and realised tt my entire walking journey had gone haywire. I was taking the route which wld eventually leads me to Changi Airport! *Tenene* Felt soo lost for once! Moreover, I cldnt even flagged a cab at my vincinity since the areas ban cars for stopping. *dots*
The Finale: I've to walk all the way, under the scorching sun, back to the familiar Tanah Merah Mrt bus stop, and to the place where a taxi-stand exists. Took a cab and guess what's my taxi fare. You wld find it ridiculous yah?
It's....
*drum-roll*
$2.80
*Triple Dots* -_-
